I apologize in advance that this journal entry will be short. But we had to take my rottweiler, Cochise, to the vet this morning to be put to sleep. My mother called his name to take him out on the back porch to use the bathroom, when suddenly his back legs collapsed. Because of his age, his back legs have been collapsing for the past few months and he had managed to make himself get back up. This time however, he couldn't get up no matter how hard he tried. And he was growling and barking in frustration. My mother was crying as she couldn't bare to see Cochise like this. When we arrived at the vet and I saw two lady veterinarians carry him on a stretcher inside, my heart broke. I wanted to go inside and be with him when it happens, but I was tagging along in my parents' car and my father did not want to see it. I remember not long after they brought him in, the ladies came back out with his muzzle, collar, and leash. I remember on our way to the vet, I was stroking him. I couldn't help but notice that he had a tear in his eye. That told me that he knew his time was up. He knew that he wouldn't be coming back home.

So, I'm going to start making a memorial for him. I already have an epitaph written for him. I just have to put the artwork together.
